29/01/2010 - Luminor: homes & LIFESTYLE Northern Ireland

Welcome to the February issue of NI Homes & Lifestyle magazine. Local
homes this month focus on three very different looks. A contemporary
architectural build in Bushmills contrasts with an extended and
renovated family home in Belfast; and a luxurious holiday home in
Portrush is the ideal home away from home. Emma and Alec’s home in
Bushmills is a winning combination of everything that this couple
love. Taking ideas from magazines, this creative couple even drew the
plans themselves. Built in 1864, Dougie and Bernadette’s home in
Belfast successfully merges old and new.

As well as our regular features and the latest in tiles, lighting and
fireplaces & stoves, we keep you posted on leading local talent.
Loughries based glass artist, Karl Harron talks to us about his unique
collection of work. Belfast artist, Rajesh Rana showcases his work,
inspired by Transport House, the iconic ‘love it or hate it’ building
in Belfast’s city centre.

On the travel front, we visit the baroque city of Salzburg. Closer to
home, we visit The Shelbourne Hotel, the luxury landmark on St
Stephen’s Green. Don’t miss this chance to win a weekend for two at
this prestigious address.

16/12/2008 - Gardenia discovers the splendour of Swarovski crystal

The Gardenia Orchidea Ceramics Group presents Onice, an exclusive project that expresses a new concept of domestic space, involving a unique relationship between light and matter.

In an increasingly time-obsessed, standardised world, where intimacy and originality are in short supply, we tend to lose sight of beauty.
Onice defeats this trend by taking us on a journey through the times and places of pleasure, with the right combination of intimacy and splendour, a moment of luxury in the ceaseless search for a balance between soul and body.

The collection’s key features are the exclusive workmanship and the accent on details, and it is intended as Gardenia Orchidea’s latest response to the growing demand for choice materials for contemporary living.

Swarovski crystals are the real novelty in this product: Gardenia Orchidea has obtained a world-wide patent for the ceramics sector covering the insertion of the crystals directly into the ceramic slab.

Each tile can therefore contain up to 10,800 original Swarovski holohedric crystals, giving rooms a sparkle never previously achieved, with reflections constantly changing in response to the light conditions.

The new mosaics are another company exclusive: each tile (19x49 cm) is engraved with special cutting blades to subdivide the surface into 360 dots; each individual dot is then given a different angle, to underline the iridescent properties of the surface and the choice finishing raw materials used.

Onice’s already numerous installation combinations are further extended by the unusual decorative accents, produced internally by skilled craftsman with precious metals including gold and platinum, and lustre and metallic surfaces.

The collection uses high-resolution digital printing, currently the most accurate, sophisticated technique capable of creating colour variation effects that make every piece unique and unrepeatable.

Using this same technique, the Gardenia Group has become the first and only firm in the sector to create open-edged compositions of several pieces with graphic designs that form a single, seamless motif, allowing the reproduction of effects typical of natural materials.

What’s more, the floor tiles’ exclusive stain-resistant honed finish allows the creation of surfaces with a watery effect with staining-protection over time and during installation.

Double-fired wall tiles, available in 6 colour variants, for combination with the porcelain floor tiles with natural and honed surface (9 colour variants).Onice is the key to the interpretation of domestic luxury: small touches of excess, details that count to give rooms the style of those who live in them.

03/07/2008 - Luminor, seamless surfaces

The Luminor home is imbued with an eclectic, dynamic style.

The full system of floor and wall coverings allows the creation of a vast selection of design schemes, conceived to express a contemporary, style-aware approach to home design.

The Gardenia research laboratory has successfully produced large slabs with perfectly flat surfaces, taking their inspiration from the "seamless" look of the glass and marble walls widely used in architecture.

The 49x49 - 32.5x97.7 - 16.1x97.7 - 7.9x97.7 sizes allow for the creation of large, seamless surfaces on floors and walls. Since they are perfectly edge-ground, Luminor slabs can be placed flush against each other, making joints exceptionally narrow and creating an immaculate final effect.
Available in two shades, beige and grey, surfaces can have four types of finish (whole colour, basalt, chip and wood) and there is a choice of five decorative accents specifically designed for large surfaces.

The floor tiles in eight colours coordinated with the wall tiles come in two surface finishes (honed and natural) and six types of mosaic. Special applications give this product an exclusive effect of brightness.

27/05/2008 - Go Colors

Go Colors represents an important achievement for the colour project of Gardenia.
The large tile size 30x60 is used to cover walls simulating one large and single stroke of the brush.
The glossy and bright glaze enhances the colours of Go Colors, bringing back to life interiors of a classic ceramic context made of strokes and vibrations of colour. The 15x60 tile size is also ideal for designing shapes on the walls and integrates correctly with the modular 30x60 size.

The Go Colors collection amplifi es the Gardenia project within the Go Design family, offering a colourful and decorative design that is perfect for creating modern and dynamic interiors in line with furnishing and fashion trends.

The 10 colours are designed to be freely mixed and matched.

21/05/2008 - I cotti: the value of differences

The range of warm natural shades of the I Cotti series is the outcome of meticulous selection of colouring pigments, mixed straight into the tile body.

Each tile is therefore a unique piece which harmonises attractively into the overall composition, but gives the floor an attractively irregular look. The three surface finishes - natural, semi-polished and grip - cover all home design requirements, meeting the needs of every interpretation

• Natural Unusual tactile sensations and an opaque appearance; this is the fi nished product, which retains all the characteristics of porcelain stoneware but has not been treated after firing.

• Semi-polished The fl oor covering is polished and glossy; each piece undergoes a final waxed-effect polishing process which gives a finishing very similar to a natural waxed terracotta.

• Grip The product is intended for outdoor use and in wet environments; safe and resistant, it has a textured surface and R10 slip resistance. A product which combines beauty with convenience, as well as the highest safety standards. For the creation of truly customised solutions, I Cotti features a large number of trims and large-size tiles which can also be used on walls for an unusual continuity effect.
