Raffaello Leonardo

Since it was not becoming any cheaper to build with stone, due to the enormous freight costs, there was a return to the "Poor" art of mixing water and clay. Tecnique wich seems to have been known already during the prehistoric era; allowing the manufactoring of bricks and tiles.
There where the lands were particularily rich of clays, some areas became more specialized than others and whole valleys of kilns sprouted. Producing materials for the construction of houses, palaces, churches, hospitals, squares.
Today Gardenia Orchidea presents "Le Crete di Pian della Fornace" line, made for those who wish to surround themselfs with beautiful hand made terra cotta and with warm natural colours that remind of the past and fully satisfy todays needs.
The fascination of "Le Crete di Pian della Fornace" remains the same with the passing of centuries and today, the floor and wall tiles that we are introducing are a duefull tribute to all those skilled kilnmen that produced Terra Cotta.
If everytime when we visit one of our art full cities and our mind runs back to the past, it is also because of those master kilnmen, masters in creating a material wich has always stood for beauty, of nature and culture.
